When I was a little girl, I wanted to be Laura Ingalls. I wanted to be her so badly I called my Mom “Ma” and my Daddy “Pa” and I pretended that I was her. I was even her for Halloween. All I wanted for Christmas was a doll that looked like Laura. I wished with ALL MY HEART for this doll, but we were poor- and my parents couldn’t afford her.
I did have and read every one of the Little House books. Over and over- I escaped to the Little House in the Big Woods, to the Shores of Silver Lake, and eventually, to Plum Creek. Losing myself into those books were the perfect escape. Later, as I grew older, I spent special time, just my Mom and I, snuggled together on the couch watching the TV series with Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert. I still wanted to be Laura. I wanted to smack Nelly Olsen and eventually, I wanted to marry Almanzo, too.
I never did get my Laura doll. BUT THEN– I found it. The Laura Ingalls Wilder Doll by The Queens Treasures!
I was very lucky that they sent me a doll to review, and yes, I did squeal like a 7 year old when the box came. I dropped everything and opened the box right then and there.
Isn’t she BEAUTIFUL!
Laura comes dressed in her sweet nightgown and night cap- and with CHARLOTTE- her ragdoll! She also has a quilt and pillow. She has nicely braided hair and a sweet smile. This is no flimsy doll- she’s very well made and ready to hold up to years of playing. She’s 18″ and is just the right size to play with other dolls.
The Queens Treasures put together a Laura Ingalls Wilder Doll Collection- and it’s FULL of awesome stuff! There’s a covered Wagon that the family used to travel West- and Ponies to pull it! There are all kinds of accessories for the wagon, and even JACK THE BRINDLE BULLDOG.
Be still my heart.
Jack. I love Jack. I even remember crying when I read that poor Jack died peacefully in The Shores of Silver Lake
