Keeping Healthy with Pets (and a Cheribundi giveaway!)

When my pal Toni of blog name here asked me to take part in her Cheribundi blog hop and giveaway, and they offered to give me a case of Cheribundi to try,  I was pretty darn excited!  I had read all about the wonderful properties.  Each bottle is made with 50 tart cherries and  “are harvested at the peak of ripeness to capture as much of the bright cherry color as possible. They taste better and have more powerful phytonutrients than other superfruits. That includes the trendy pomegranate, the acai berry, grapes or blueberries. Rich with nutrients, tart cherries can help you recover from exercise, sleep better, and in general, live life to the fullest because you feel better. Instead of eating 50 cherries a day, you can get the same benefits by drinking cheribundi™. AND they are providing me with a case of Cheribundi to give away to one lucky ready!  Scroll down to the bottom to enter!

charliebrownWow.   I know I need all that awesomeness.  I am a crazy busy Mom of a teen, a tween, 3 dogs, 3 cats, a husband, and  a bunch of foster animals.  My family and I  have been involved in rescuing animals all of my life- and my husband and I all of our married life.  In fact, in 10th grade, we were both in the play “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”, helping out a savvy dog- I think our recue roots got started there:

Our animals play a big part in our everyday life, and for me, that means fitness.    We belong to our local shelter and we help out there a lot.  Animal Welfare ALWAYS has dogs to walk.  I can go 3 times a week to take out one of their larger breed for a nice long walk making helping me to get in my 10,000 steps a day! Playing a game of frisbee with  a Lab at the shelter will easily knock off  a few hundred calories and  tire out the dog! (you, too!) We have 3 Pekinese (well, one has a bit of Chihuahua in her) that don’t require long walks. In fact, they can’t really tolerate them, especially in the summer.  But,  we spend a lot of time playing ball, chasing them around, and taking them for short walks, one a a time,   In our case, one of our dogs, Winkie, can only tolerate shorter walks than the other 3, and my husband, who has a heart condition,  takes him and gets his prescribed walks in!  It’s a win/win! Cats  can also help you get moving.  No, I am not suggesting that you  leash up your cat and go for a walk (but if you do, send pictures!!) but I have spent hours running through my house dragging a feather tied onto a string for my kitties to “stalk” . And there are always the obvious-  the stress relief you get when a sweet puppy  or kitty sits beside you giving unconditional love as you pet them is amazing.
