Bodymedia Fit and a Challenge

A few weeks ago I received in the mail something I’ve been wanting to try for a long time.  A Bodymedia Armband Advantage!

What is it, you ask?

I’ve been wearing my  Bodymedia Fit armband for a few weeks.  I love it. .  I’ve even named her- she’s Flora.  My Fit Flora!

These are the things I LOVE about my Bodymedia:

it’s super comfortable. I don’t even notice I have it on. It’s great at tracking my steps. I don’t have to mess with a pedometer, I already have one one! I love that it  tell me how many calories  I’ve burned all day.. not just during exercise like my heart rate monitor did.  If I’m cleaning floors, walking dogs,  folding laundry, it’s counting the calories I’m burning!

I haven’t been doing well with tracking my food.  There is an option where I can use the Bodymedia  food tracker, and it will tell me  how much weight I should be losing!

To gain a pound, you need to eat 3,500 more calories than you burn. Conversely, to LOSE a pound, you need to burn 3,500 more calories than you eat. Using the online Activity Manager’s* food logging tool, you can enter the foods you’ve eaten. BodyMedia FIT automatically converts those into calories. This information combined with your calorie burn gives you a complete picture of each day’s calories in an out. BodyMedia FIT’s proven calorie calculator makes it easier to see how well you are meeting your personal fitness and calorie deficit goals and to make adjustments to your lifestyle to meet those goals further.

I even take Flora to bed. Bodymedia tracks how much real sleep I’m getting!  Good sleep can help suppress your appetite and maintain your energy, which is critical to weight loss. The better rested you are, the  more apt you are to lose weight.

Here’s how it works:  I wear Flora every day (and night) and  at the end of the day, I  plug it into my computer to upload the information.  (there are also Bluetooth enabled systems that upload via your phone, but I upload it)

Once it’s uploaded, it tells me how much of a charge is left. Flora stays charged for quite a while.   Then my activity manager pops up, and tells me how I did that day:

I am super excited to be using Flora, my Bodymedia Fit Advantage to participate in  the Mamavation 2 week challenge.  Starting Monday, I’ll be  tracking all my meals and  posting photos of them. (I plan on using my  Precise Portions  tableware to make it easy!) Each day there are specific workouts to do, and I’ll be bustin’ my butt at Phys-Ed getting them  done!  And I’ll be wearing Flora to keep track of my calorie burned!

I have specific goals this December. I refuse to  gain weight this December.  In fact,I have  a specific size I want to get into; a size 18!  I know that working hard on  this challenge will help me meet my goals!  I hope you’ll follow along and cheer me on!
